Honda Activa e Launched from ₹1.17 Lakh with 102 km Range and ₹678 Swappable Battery Plan

Honda Activa e: In a country where daily commutes are growing smarter, cleaner, and more economical, Honda is making it easier than ever to switch to electric. The Honda Activa e India’s first electric scooter with a swappable battery has already turned heads. And now, in a move that could make EV ownership even more accessible, Honda has launched a new ‘Lite’ battery subscription plan tailored for users who don’t ride long distances every day. Priced at just ₹678 per month, the plan is aimed at budget-conscious riders who want all the benefits of an EV without the higher monthly energy costs.

First unveiled at the Auto Expo in January, the Honda Activa e stood out not just for being electric, but for its Battery-as-a-Subscription model, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Indian two-wheeler space. With the new Lite plan, Honda is directly addressing feedback from early riders who found the original running costs to be a bit steep compared to petrol scooters.

A Smarter Subscription for Everyday Commuters

The Lite plan provides 20kWh of monthly energy, which works out to roughly 23–25km of daily usage perfect for office-goers, college students, and short-distance riders. Compared to the existing subscription tiers Basic (₹1,999/month for 35kWh) and Advanced (₹3,999/month for 87kWh) this new entry-level plan makes electric mobility far more affordable without sacrificing convenience. And the best part? Honda doesn’t penalize you for using more than your “daily average” on a given day. As long as your total monthly energy usage stays within the 20kWh limit, you’re good to go.

However, the scooter still relies solely on battery-swapping stations, which are currently few and far between. Plus, there’s no option for home-charging, which may be a concern for some potential buyers. That said, for urban riders who live close to a swap station, this model can still be a practical and forward-thinking solution.

Performance, Price, and Variants

The Honda Activa e is available in two variants the standard model priced at ₹1.17 lakh and the RoadSync Duo at ₹1.52 lakh (both ex-showroom). The core mechanical setup remains the same across both: dual 1.5kWh swappable battery packs powering the scooter with a combined 102km IDC-certified range.

What sets the RoadSync Duo apart is its modern 7-inch full-color TFT display, controlled via a handy joystick. This feature makes the interface more interactive and visually engaging, adding a touch of tech sophistication to the everyday ride.

A Glimpse Into Honda’s Electric Future

Honda has also taken its EV strategy a step further by unveiling a dedicated EV Concept Zone in Bengaluru. Visitors can experience the Honda Activa e in person, explore the QC1 portable power pack, the sporty eGX electric go-kart, and even the compact and quirky Moto Compacto. The EV Zone also features a working battery-swapping station, offering a hands-on look at how the swappable battery system works in real time.

A Step Closer to Everyday Electric Mobility

Honda’s introduction of the Lite plan shows a clear understanding of Indian commuting needs. While infrastructure challenges still remain, this move lowers the cost barrier and makes daily electric commuting more viable for the masses. With the Honda Activa e and its evolving support ecosystem, Honda is pushing India toward a smarter, more sustainable future one affordable ride at a time.
